As We Gather
Our faces tell a lot about what’s going on inside. Some days we might be gloomy. But when we hear truly joyful news, it changes us from the inside, a smile adorns our face, and we join our friends in rejoicing. Isaiah prophesied abundant joy when the Messiah would come, which He did centuries ago. In our resultant joy, we can wait patiently for His return, James encourages in the Epistle: as “the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth.” Though our Lord will return as judge, Isaiah promises, “He will come and save you.” Now there’s great news to put a smile on your face
Children Sunday School

In Sunday School today, the children learn how each of us is like the lame beggar as we stand before God (Acts 3). Yet through the Means of Grace, God’s Word and Sacraments, God bestows on us what Christ accomplished on the cross:
forgiveness of sins. In your family discussions, talk about what it means to have the forgiveness of sins

A new study begins. We are reviewing the clash of faith in culture through current news articles. We are endeavoring not to stray into political party differences because our focus is on Christ. Besides, salvation is by faith in Christ Jesus not in political affiliations. Participants are invited to bring an article they have seen for group discussion.

Life Quotes

I would suggest that each of us, when we begin our Christmas preparations next year, spend a bit of time remembering those whose festival is not tinsel and toys, presents and packages. Let us ask the Lord to preserve the Savior’s followers who are hated and persecuted because our Lord of life is hated.” Pastor Ken Klaus, speaker emeritus of “The Lutheran Hour” - A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.org
Stewardship

Isaiah 35:4 - “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.’ ” The return of our Lord at the Last Day is a cause of joy and anticipation for us believers. We know our Lord and His love, and we look forward to His Second Advent. Indeed, how we live our lives here and now flows from our certain hope of resurrection and eternal life

Welcome Snowbirds and Visitors
We are happy that you are here to worship with us this morning. Please join us for coffee in the Narthex after the service so that we have an opportunity to meet you and answer any questions you may have about our church
Angel Tree
is set up in the Narthex. We are supporting the same families from Kenwood Elementary that we did for Thanksgiving. Take an angel (or two) and put your name and phone number next to the angel number on the signup sheet. ALL GIFTS need to be returned, wrapped, and underneath the tree by Sunday, December 15 so we can distribute them to the families in time for Christmas. Contact Jean Grieve for more information: jean.grieve@yahoo.com, 850-240-4300
Poinsettias
Many thanks from the Life Team to all in the congregation who purchased poinsettias to benefit the Rhonda Coon Women’s Home in Fort Walton Beach. All poinsettias will be labeled with names and can be picked up after the last Christmas service
Parking
For all members, visitors, and Snowbirds) Our policy is that ALL signed handicapped parking spaces are there to be used by anyone with temporary or permanent physical limitations requiring them to need close access to our buildings:
Examples are expectant mothers, people using wheelchairs or walkers, and people with temporary movement limitations due to injuries or recent surgery. In short, since churches in Florida are exempt from the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), our spaces are there for use by people who have limitations whether or not they have a handicapped decal or placard
Unplanned
If you missed the showing of the movie, UNPLANNED, or if you would like to see it again, stop by the church office and ask to borrow the DVD
Staff Appreciation Gifts
If you would like to contribute toward a Christmas gift for the Staff of GSLC, please put your gift in the Staff Appreciation envelope provided in your bulletin. You may place your envelope in the offering plate or bring it to the office. Lawn Care Teams
It is time again to recruit 2-Person Lawn Team members to help keep our Church grounds attractive and welcoming to visitors! We need to replace a long-time team which just retired from our lineup—and also to add several additional teams to lessen the burden on the present members. Please, offer to join us and help.
